The Coalition Secretariat and the NDC Partnership co-organized a workshop on September 12 to highlight key messages and results of the Coalition’s report Ministries of Finance and Nationally Determined Contributions: Raising Ambition and Accelerating Climate Action. They have collaborated closely with Uganda and Jamaica to advance this work under Helsinki Principle 6 and 1 workstreams and to strengthen the crucial role of Ministries of Finance (MoF) in shaping, updating, and implementing Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) and Long-term Strategies (LTS).

The workshop highlighted report’s insights and recommendations and presented experiences from Uganda, Kenya, Philippines, and the European Union. The discussions focused on the MoF actions during the NDC and LTS design, revision, and implementation process. This included exploring the tools employed by MoFs to evaluate the alignment of projects and initiatives with the NDCs and LTS. It highlighted the challenges faced by MoFs, underscoring the necessity for specific strategies and capacity building to overcome these obstacles, including the available support that the NDC Partnership can provide to support MoFs.

The workshop provided a platform for exchanging experiences and expertise, fostering a shared understanding of best practices.
