Regional convenings are a new strategic priority  for the Coalition to better tailor context-specific climate action tools and peer-to-peer learning among a large, diverse and growing finance ministry membership acting in different time zones.

In connection with the Coalition’s second Africa regional convening, taking place December in Lusaka, the African Finance Ministers’ Platform officially launched, with shared view on interim governance, leadership, and a Regional Roadmap (2025–2027) to strengthen Africa’s collective effort in five work areas and voice on climate finance (Zambia and Congo to co-chair, Sierra Leone - interim Secretariat). Key elements are as follows:

Strong convergence among Ministries of Finance on integrating climate and nature risks into macro-fiscal planning, debt strategies, and public investment decisions following COP30.

Concrete progress across priority themes, including country platforms for climate finance, debt-climate linkages, carbon markets readiness, natural capital accounting, and green jobs and industrial policy.

Shared African positions advanced on scaling concessional finance, debt-for-climate instruments, carbon markets participation, and adaptation financing gaps.

Capacity-building commitments secured, including peer learning, technical assistance, and joint analytical work on climate-nature economic scenarios.

A clear pathway has been agreed to feed outcomes into the March 2026 Africa Finance Ministers’ Meeting, reinforcing Africa’s leadership in global climate and finance fora.
