The Coalition convened on Wednesday, April 17, 2024 during the World Bank and International Monetary Fund Spring Meetings in Washington, DC. The 11th Ministerial discussed the role of Finance Ministers in the design, financing implementation of Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs), or countries’ national climate plans which need to be updated by 2025 under the Paris Agreement framework. Finance Ministers and partners shared their experiences, lessons and best practices on several sub-topics in high-level roundtables.
As we celebrate the 5th anniversary of the Coalition of Finance Ministers for Climate Action, global finance and environmental leaders with the UN, have issued a Call to Action. With support from Finance Ministries, new national climate plans can be investable plans - helping to save the planet but also improving the livelihoods of people, families and local communities across the board.
