Held alongside Hong Kong Climate Week, this joint CFMCA–NGFS workshop will bring together senior officials from Ministries of Finance and central banks to exchange practical country experiences on strengthening disaster risk finance and insurance frameworks amid increasingly frequent and severe extreme weather events.
Discussions will explore how countries can prepare financially for disasters, including through contingent financing, sovereign and private insurance, reinsurance, catastrophe bonds, and risk pools. The workshop will also consider how Ministries of Finance and central banks can coordinate, within their respective mandates, to strengthen fiscal, macroeconomic, and financial resilience.
