On 16th-17th July 2024, the first African regional convening of the Coalition of Finance Ministers for Climate Action took place in Kampala, Uganda.

‘Sustainable Horizons: Climate Action Strategies for Ministries of Finance in Africa’ focused on the role of Ministries of Finance in Nationally Determined Contributions and National Adaptation Plans, green growth strategies, and financing tools for mitigation and adaptation action.

Uganda’s Minister of Finance Hon. Matia Kasaija, who was represented by the Minister of State for General Duties Hon. Henry Musasizi said:
“Adaptation action offers a critical opportunity to protect people and boost sustainable growth. That is why I am pleased to host the first African regional convening of the Coalition of Finance Ministers for Climate Action here in Kampala.”

Bringing together 20 Ministries of Finance from across the African continent, the event was organized in collaboration with the Ugandan Ministry of Finance, Planning and Economic Development, the African Union and the African Development Bank.

The convening was supported by Enabel, NDC Partnership, UNEP, UNDP, C3A and the World Bank
