Navigating a resilient low-carbon transition: Exploring the strategic roles and coordination of central banks and finance ministries 

 

Purpose: To officially launch an NGFS–CFMCA informal dialogue series, bringing together senior representatives from central banks, finance ministries, and key institutional partners to explore the strategic roles and coordination of central banks and finance ministries in navigating the macroeconomic dimensions of climate change and the low-carbon transition.

This high-level session, co-hosted by the Network for Greening the Financial System (NGFS) and the Coalition of Finance Ministers for Climate Action (CFMCA), will officially launch a new informal dialogue series between the two networks. The series aims to strengthen collaboration and shared learning between central banks and finance ministries on the macroeconomic and financial dimensions of climate change and the low-carbon transition.

The launch discussion, “Navigating a Resilient Low-Carbon Transition: Exploring the Strategic Roles and Coordination of Central Banks and Finance Ministries”, will bring together senior representatives from central banks, finance ministries, and international institutions. It will highlight the strategic importance of coordination across monetary and fiscal authorities in supporting a resilient, low-carbon economy.

COP30 Joint High-Level Event CFMCA and Brazil Ministry of Finance / COP30 Presidency 

Implementing NDCs: how Finance Ministries can integrate climate goals into economic strategy 

This panel event will bring together finance ministry representatives, partner organizations, and high-level experts from around the world to discuss how Ministries of Finance are driving the implementation of Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) by integrating climate objectives into economic strategies, development plans, and fiscal policies. The event will feature country case studies, highlight best practices, share expert contributions, and explore ways to mobilize finance flows to achieve the USD 1.3 trillion ambition for developing countries by 2035.

Additionally, the event will further explore and refine the Coalition’s role in advancing the implementation of relevant recommendations from the COP30 Circle of Finance Ministers Report and the Baku to Belem Roadmap.

The event is open to all with Blue Zone access, and a recording will be made available afterwards.
